Weathering the flood
Dogs sit on the window sills of a house flooded by water from the Solimoes river, a major tributary of the Amazon. Floods and mudslides from months of heavy rains in northern Brazil have driven more than 300,000 from their homes and killed at least 44 people, according to Brazilian Civil Defense.
